Aim of this paper is to show the effectiveness of analytical stability boundaries for Cuk converter and to highlight the impact on converter stability of 1) the power stage passive components, and 2) the current controller characteristics. Stability conditions are determined by means of an enhanced dynamic model of the peak current controlled Cuk converter, taking into account the difference between the small-signal ac components of the voltage across coupling capacitor and of the sum of input and output voltage. A reduced-order small model of peak current controlled Cuk converter is used to generate Cuk converter stability boundaries. The validity of the curves are confirmed by Powersim PSIM simulations.
