Social life cycle assessment is a product assessment technique for evaluating the social and socioeconomic aspects, as well as their potential positive and negative impacts, throughout a product’s life cycle—from extraction and processing of raw materials, through manufacturing, distribution, use, reuse, maintenance, and recycling, to fi nal disposal. Because the technique is still in its infancy, however, it requires further development in methodology and operations.
