Abstract

Questo Manuale è stato preparato per rispondere ad un sempre maggior interesse verso le applicazioni della Geomorfologia nei problemi del territorio. Esso fornisce via via le basi concettuali, un insieme di percorsi metodologici ed una serie di esempi specifici, derivanti da ricerche e lavori originali, per la valutazione e la soluzione delle problematiche territoriali.In particolare vengono investigati sia i vari processi di pericolosità (superficiale, fluviale, costiera, glaciale, sismica, antropica, frane, valanghe ecc.), che i tipi di risorse naturali (materiali lapidei e detritici, geositi ecc.), nei quali è coinvolta la Geomorfologia in termini di rischio e d'impatto ambientali. Per questi fenomeni sono prospettati sistemi d'indagine, misure di controllo, interventi di difesa e azioni di mitigazione, avvalendosi anche di tecnologie innovative, quali il Remote sensing, il GIS ecc. Peculiare attenzione è rivolta quindi ai temi della Pianificazione Territoriale, della Valutazione d'Impatto Ambientale e dello Sviluppo Sostenibile.La materia è trattata in modo sistematico e con un linguaggio scientifico di facile comprensione, pur basato su rigorosi percorsi metodologici. Numerosi schemi, figure e tabelle facilitano l'approccio alla disciplina.Il volume è rivolto sia a studenti universitari, sia a coloro che, per ricerca o lavoro (geologi, ingegneri, naturalisti, geografi, architetti ecc.), affrontano i problemi dell'analisi, della salvaguardia e della gestione del territorio.
