A survey was made of the available literature on Planetary Rolling and Planetary Rolling Mills. From this a distillation of information was made which included a description of the mill and the material flow when rolling with it. Some independent work was done in the development of rolling formulas. The end result was the assembly of a design procedure which can be used to calculate roll forces and power requirements in a given Planetary Mill. With this information the capability of a given Mill to perform as required in a rolling situation can be determined.
