Abstract

Il patrizio veneziano Alvise Pisani (1522-1570), di famiglia legata alla Santa Sede, visse all'ombra del potente zio, il cardinale Francesco Pisani, prelato assenteista e pluribeneficiario. Le sue apparizioni al concilio di Trento e nella diocesi di Padova, di cui fu vescovo dal 1555, furono fugaci e poco significative. Accumulò benefici per circa 8.000 ducati; non fu mai ordinato sacerdote. Nel testamento decreto copiosi lasciti ai figli e alle figlie naturali. Ma il testamento, giudicato scandaloso, fu annullato dai papi Pio V e Gregorio XIII.
