Abitare la quotidianità: dallo spazio domestico allo spazio pubblico

Abstract

Le storie dell’architettura e dell’urbanistica non sono state fin qui generose nei confronti delle progettiste. L’invisibilità delle donne nello spazio pubblico si è estesa dunque anche alle pagine della storiografia disciplinare. Eppure sono numerose le architette e le urbaniste che hanno contribuito lungo il Novecento allo sviluppo di queste discipline e soprattutto alla progettazione e costruzione di spazi domestici e urbani. Oltre le loro specifiche competenze professionali, più in generale le donne possono essere considerate costruttrici di spazio, infatti, attraverso le loro pratiche abitative costruiscono e trasformano, giorno dopo giorno, come autrici anonime, spazi comuni, contribuendo a renderli più abitabili. Il testo esplora questi due profili della donna che costruisce: da una parte osservando come la sua vita quotidiana produca effetti spaziali, dall’altra ritornando su alcune progettiste, poco note, che hanno lavorato per una nuova abitabilità dello spazio pubblico nella città europea dell’immediato secondo dopoguerra.
