Abstract

Il testo ricostruisce criticamente la storia dell'Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia. Fondato nel 1923, a partire dal secondo dopoguerra l’Istituto acquisisce fama internazionale come “la scuola di Venezia” sotto la lunga direzione di Giuseppe Samonà. Nel 1945 infatti l’ingegnere siciliano dà avvio ad un ampio progetto che trasformerà lo Iuav da piccola e provinciale scuola di architettura, in un luogo rilevante per la cultura e il dibattito architettonico nazionale e internazionale.
