Abstract

The paper illustrates the results of the research in progress on the peopling process of Gargano during Neolithic and Eneolithic. Using the potentialities of spatial analysis provided by Geographic Information System, the research project proposes some new perspectives on the analysis of settlement distribution based on palaeogeographical settings and on a selection of archaeological information according to their reliability. The paper is organised in 3 sections: 1. discussion on some chronological distribution maps; 2. locational analysis of sites on the geomorphological context; 3. spatial analysis of prehistoric evidences distribution related to prehistoric landscape features.
