La risorsa geotermica nella Toscana meridionale, con particolare riferimento alla bassa entalpia

Abstract

La disponibilità del calore terrestre è illimitata rispetto alla scala temporale umana e, quindi, l’energia geotermica è da considerarsi una risorsa rinnovabile e fruibile a lungo per le generazioni future; correttamente sfruttata, essa può assumere un ruolo significativo nel bilancio energetico di numerosi paesi. Le risorse geotermiche italiane, potenzialmente estraibili fino a 5 km di profondità, sono stimate in 21*10^18 J (500*10^6 tonnellate equivalenti petrolio), di cui circa due terzi hanno temperature inferiori a 150 °C (medio - bassa entalpia). Negli ultimi decenni si è sviluppato un crescente interesse nei confronti del risparmio energetico e della produzione di energia da fonti rinnovabili: ebbene, la geotermia a bassa entalpia fornisce risposte concrete a questi quesiti, costituendo una fonte energetica alternativa, inesauribile, gratuita, disponibile ovunque e in ogni momento, pulita (con riduzione dell’emissione di sostanze inquinanti che può arrivare al 70 % di un tradizionale impianto a gas). Va da sé che nelle fasi di progettazione, realizzazione ed esercizio degli impianti, riguardanti lo sfruttamento della risorsa geotermica, la corretta conoscenza della componente geologica risulti essenziale.
