Abstract

Este libro presenta los principios de la economía agrícola, con ejemplos basados en la experiencia peruana. En primer lugar, se presenta dicho sector de mayor a menor nivel de agregación. Así, se describe la importancia de la agricultura en un contexto de desarrollo económico; los efectos del entorno macroeconómico sobre la agricultura; y un enfoque de sistemas aplicado a la agroindustria, con énfasis especial en la integración vertical, luego se elaboran temas con mayor fundamento en teoría microeconómica: la teoría de la demanda y oferta aplicada a la agricultura, y comercio internacional de productos agrícolas. Finalmente, se otorga atención particular a temas recurrentes de muchos problemas de una agricultura como la peruana: la importancia de los aspectos institucionales, el mercadeo, el crédito agropecuario y el análisis del riesgo en la agricultura.
