It is obvious that lots of story writers have written about the theme of Islamic mysticism. However, there aren't any individual works which analyze the theme of Islamic mysticism in Rasim Özdenören's stories. Thus my thesis which analyzes Rasim Özdenören's stories from the point of Islamic mysticism try to show the writer's view to Islamic mysticism, the situation of heroes, the role of dervishes and dervish lodges together with their place in characters' lives in his stories. The chronologic order was taken into consideration when analyzing the stories. Moreover not only Rasim Özdenören's stories but also his essays and other books in different areas were used in this study. This study consists of three chapters except introduction. The first chapter is about the moods of characters under the title of `Inclination Towards Islamic Mysticism in Rasim Özdenören's Stories: Quest, Regret, Repentance. The second chapter explains the emotioanl states of characters before and after their entering into a dervish lodge under the title of `Islamic Mysticism as The Experienced State in Rasim Özdenören's Stories`. The third chapter evaulates the mystical concepts in the stories under the title of `The Mystical Terminology in Rasim Özdenören's Stories`. As a result, the heroes of Özdenören choose to dedicate themselves to a religious cult in order to escape from depression and deadlock of modern times. In this point, it is seen that Rasim Özdenören has fed from Islamic mysticism as a source.

Rasim Özdenören'in hikâyelerinde tasavvuf temasını inceleyen, müstakil herhangi bir çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Buradan hareketle `tasavvuf` bağlamında ele alınan bu çalışmada; Rasim Özdenören'in hikâyeleri tasavvuf penceresinden incelenerek; yazarın tasavvufa bakışı, kahramanlarının durumları, derviş ve tekkelerin hikâyelerdeki rolleri ile karakterlerin hayatlarındaki konumları ortaya konulmuştur. Hikâyeler incelenirken kronolojik sıra göz önünde bulundurulmuştur. Ayrıca bu çalışmada Rasim Özdenören'in hikâyelerine ilaveten, denemelerinden ve farklı alanlara ait birçok eserlerden de yararlanılmıştır.Üç bölümden oluşan çalışmanın birinci bölümünde: `Rasim Özdenören'in Hikâyelerinde Tasavvufa Yöneliş: Arayış, Pişmanlık, Tövbe` başlığı ile kahramanların ruhsal durumları, ikinci bölümünde: `Rasim Özdenören'in Hikâyelerinde Yaşanan Hâl Olarak Tasavvuf` başlığı ile karakterlerin dergâha girmeden önce ve girdikten sonra yaşadıkları duygusal hâlleri, üçüncü bölümünde ise `Rasim Özdenören'in Hikâyelerinde Tasavvuf Terminolojisi` başlığıyla hikâyelerde geçen tasavvufî kavramlar incelenmektedir.Sonuç olarak, Özdenören'in hikâye kahramanları, modern zamanların bunalım ve çıkmazlarından kurtulmak için bir tarikata bağlanmayı seçer. Bu noktada, Özdenören'in tasavvuftan kaynak olarak beslendiği açıkça görülmektedir.
