Osmanlı sanatı, 18. yüzyılla birlikte Batılılaşma sürecine girmiş, mimari biçimlenişler bu değişimin etkisi altında kalmıştır. Boyabat Kaya Camii Osmanlı Geç Dönem Mimarisi karakterini oluşturan ögelerin kullanıldığı bir yapıdır. Mülkiyeti TC Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü'ne ait olan cami, bugün ibadethane olarak işlevini sürdürmektedir.Tezin amacı, kültür mirası olan Boyabat Kaya Camii için bir koruma projesi hazırlamak ve gelecek nesillere aktarımı için gereken müdahalelerin nitelik ve kapsamını belirlemek olarak tanımlanmıştır.Tez çalışması, Boyabat Kaya Camii'nin günümüzdeki durumunun ayrıntılı betimlenmesini, rölöve, restitüsyon ve restorasyon projelerini içermektedir. Yapının günümüzdeki durumu fotoğraflar, rölöve çizimleri, malzeme, kronoloji ve hasar tespit analizleri aracılığıyla belgelenmiştir. Restitüsyon çalışması yapılırken özgün belgeler, yapı üzerinde tespit edilen izler, eski fotoğraflar esas alınmıştır. Kötü onarımlardan, özensiz kullanımdan ve içinde bulunduğu fiziksel koşullardan kaynaklanan pek çok hasarı olan Boyabat Kaya Camii'nin, bu hasarlardan arındırılarak işlevine uygun olarak yasatılması gerekmektedir. Anıtın özgün kimliği ve tarihi-estetik değerleri korunarak cami işlevinin devamı öngörülmektedir.

Architecture in 18th century has been affected widely by the Westernization period of Ottoman art. Boyabat Kaya Mosque is a building that represents the Ottoman late period characterisitics of architecture in Anatolia.The building is owned by the Waqf Directorate and still continues to function as a mosque. The aim of the thesis is to prepare a restoration project and to identify the criteria necessary fort he implementation processes for Boyabat Kaya Mosque which is an architectural cultural heritage.The thesis work covers the description of the building, the survey, restitution, restoration projects and developments. The survey has been made by documenting the building with drawings, photographs and analysis of material, chronology and deterioration. Restitution has been developed according to old images, historic documents and building. The mosque has a history of bad repair work, vandalism and the existing surrounding conditions but it must be sustained for next generations with proper restoration processes. The heritage building must be preserved with its original function and identity.
