Abstract

The author analyzes the relationship between neo-liberalism and pentecostalism focusing on the religious experience in the community groups of Rey de Reyes’s church. Firstly, he explores the concepts of community and society according to the sociological tradition. Secondly, he tackles the strategies of the church to deal with the social suffering, related to the consequences of liberal’s policies. Finally, he studies the cellular system of organization developed by pastors to manipulate the religious practices within the church. The concept of elective affinity helps the author to find the connections and oppositions between the religious ideas and the economic world.
