Salud y vulnerabilidad en el adulto mayor. Aproximaciones conceptuales.

Abstract

La adultez mayor como fenómeno social puede analizarse utilizando tres enfoques alternativos: de la desigualdad, de la dependencia y de la vulnerabilidad. En este trabajo, se estudiará el enfoque de la vulnerabilidad en tanto concepto multidimensional y dinámico puntualizando en la dimensión salud y en la población adulta mayor. Para lograr este objetivo, en una primera sección se reseña el concepto de vulnerabilidad, describiendo los diversos tipos de vulnerabilidad existentes y enfatizando en el concepto y dimensiones de la vulnerabilidad social; luego, en un segundo apartado, se define la vulnerabilidad en salud para finalizar considerando esta dimensión en la población adulta mayor.
