Abstract

In this paper, it has been designed an innovative material that allows the transformation of sunlight into heat energy with high efficiency and it fulfills a dual purpose: to reuse industrial wastes (motor vehicles’ windshield and heat systems’ ashes) and to contribute to environment care by developing of a new method of "green energy" generation. The nanocomposites constituted by Ag nanoparticles anchored in a vitreous matrix, were synthesized using a solid state cell formed by crystalline and amorphous electrolytes. The materials were characterized by UV-Vis and impedance spectroscopy techniques. The increase observed in their permittivity results in a significant improvement in the heat transport process (nano-particle/glassy matrix) which provokes an improvement in the nano-composite material functionality for "energy harvesting" (sunlight).
