Infinito, eternidad y finitudes

Abstract

La relación entre lo innominado (lo no nominado ―literalmente lo no dicho― y, por extensión «lo que no se puede nominar» o «lo aún no dicho» (i.e. «lo inenarrable») y la infinitud, tiene una larga, profusa y conflictiva relación en la historia del pensamiento. No casualmente fue sentida como una «categoría temible», atractiva pero abismal aunque limitante. El infinito es un confín inexpugnable, contra el cual se patentiza el límite de nuestra existencia individual, física, material y especialmente emotiva y racional. Infinitus, en latín significa literalmente «sin fin» y, de modo idéntico, en griego apéiron, «no-límite», o sea, lo diametralmente opuesto a «con-fin». He aquí, patentizada, la aporía, a saber: nuestra mente, nuestra historia cultural, postula el/lo infinito pero nuestra existencia es crudamente confinante: limitada y limitante, quizás condicionada, posiblemente determinada? Incluso, a veces, sobredeterminada. O así lo padecemos. Esta tensión, incluso, se presentó, recurrente, a lo largo de la historia de la ciencia (o de sus proyectos de tal) desde tiempos ya remotos hasta la reciente Posmodernidad, en la cual se postula una crónica «crisis de los fundamentos» del conocimiento, aún irresoluta entre eternidad y finitud.
