Este trabajo tiene como objetivo discutir aspectos referidos al marco legal de las estadísticas oficiales en la República Argentina haciendo hincapié en el secreto estadístico. El estudio consta de cinco secciones: la primera introduce aspectos generalísimos del trabajo; la segunda presenta algunos elementos de un sistema estadístico abordando el concepto de secreto estadístico, tipos y aplicación a registros administrativos; la tercera examina la especificidad de la legislación argentina planteando interrogantes vinculados con las condiciones históricas que sellaron el nacimiento de la Ley 17.622; la cuarta discurre sobre las legislaciones estadísticas de Brasil, México, Estados Unidos de América y España.
This paper aims to discuss the statistics legislation of Argentina with emphasis on statistical confidentiality. The study consists of five sections: the first introduces generals aspects of study, the second presents some elements of a statistical system to address the concept of statistical confidentiality, types and application to administrative records, the third examines the Argentina legislation raising questions that rely on the historical conditions that sealed the birth of the Law 17622, the fourth outlines the statistics laws of Brazil, Mexico, USA and Spain.
