El sesgo ideológico en la interpretación del determinismo y el libre albedrío por parte de conservadores y progresistas

Abstract

Nos proponemos explorar, desde la óptica de la Psicología Moral Experimental, las concepciones ligadas al determinismo y el libre albedrío implícitas en ideologías conservadoras y progresistas. La hipótesis defendida es que ambas sostienen concepciones tanto deterministas como basadas en el libre albedrío, recurriendo a unas u otras dependiendo del argumento a defender. Mientras los conservadores apelan al libre albedrío para adjudicar responsabilidad moral, y, por ende, imputabilidad al delincuente, pero adoptan posiciones deterministas al asumir la imposibilidad de su reinserción social; los progresistas son deterministas cuando atribuyen el comportamiento delictivo a causas externas (pobreza, exclusión, etc.), pero apelan al libre albedrío al asumir que el infractor puede reinsertarse socialmente si cambian las condiciones de su entorno. Se argumenta que ambas posiciones sustentan una condición devaluada del ser humano como sujeto moral. Se sostiene además, recurriendo al experimento de Uhlman et. al., que tanto conservadores como progresistas tienden a aplicar selectivamente principios morales ligados a derechos y garantías dependiendo de su percepción de quién es la víctima y quién el victimario.
