The spatial population distribution in the city has been of central concern to urban studies. This paper addresses one of the dynamics that constitute this issue. We describe and analyze the changes of residential location that the population experienced within the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires between 2005 and 2010. For this, we made use of the 2010 national census data. The articulations between this type of spatial mobility and the population's demographic, housing and economic characteristics are investigated with the purpose of observing which the issues that condition the magnitude and directionality of residential mobility are.
