Abstract

Political representation in general and union representation in particular, independently of the legal models of each country, presuppose a series of logics of articulation of demands and constitution of identities that in each case is solved differently, depending on a variety of Elements such as: political tradition, the levels of participation / delegation of the bases, expressed plurality, democratic amplitude (electoral, participation, etc.), the threshold of bureaucratization, The types of leadership building, etc. This paper analyzes the processes of representation based on two cases of union organizations that account for different and even opposing modalities of constitution of political / union identities. From an eminently qualitative perspective we will make a comparative analysis of two guilds that dispute the representation of the workers in the ambit of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires: The Asociación de Trabajadores del Estado (ATE) y the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (SUTECBA).
