Termo-inhibición y control hormonal en semillas de malezas

Abstract

La mayoría de las malezas poseen un tipo de dormición primaria denominado fisiológico, en el cual un mecanismo intrínseco del embrión impide la emergencia de la radícula. Este efecto se debe a la restricción física ejercida por las cubiertas seminales (endosperma, perisperma, megagametofito, pericarpio y/o testa) al embrión y a la fuerza requerida por el mismo para atravesarlas. Para poder superar este estado, en el caso de las malezas anuales invernales, la semilla debe pasar por un período de temperatura cálida denominado “post-maduración” (“after-ripening”). Durante este lapso de tiempo en la semilla ocurren diferentes procesos fisiológicos: el embrión adquiere el potencial de crecimiento necesario para atravesar las cubiertas que lo rodean, siendo este fenómeno acompañado por la degradación enzimática de las mismas. Estos acontecimientos se encuentran relacionados con cambios en la concentración y sensibilidad hormonal.
