Latin America is a crucial case of high exposure to environmental hazards. The analysis of the relationship between the prospective method and environmental security can thus contribute to the subsequent development of early warning systems, natural disaster mitigation, and prevention of new social conflicts for the control of remaining resources. Based on the observation of indicators linked to biodiversity levels and the effects of climate change, the objective is to present basic aspects of the foresight method and its scenario technique to identify plausible futures in environmental insecurity inside the region for the next decade.
