Un enfoque de optimización para el control de vertido de efluentes urbanos en ríos

Abstract

Uno de los problemas ambientales de gran importancia en la actualidad es la contaminación hídrica, generada básicamente por la descarga de efluentes urbanos. El deterioro ambiental que vienen sufriendo estos recursos naturales ha llegado a niveles tan altos que ha puesto de manifiesto la necesidad urgente de instalar plantas de tratamiento adecuadamente diseñadas. En tal sentido, se propone en este trabajo, un enfoque de diseño óptimo para la determinación de la localización de las tuberías de descargas de efluentes así como también del grado de tratamiento necesario para garantizar un nivel de contaminación tolerable en ciertas zonas de resguardo ambiental tales como playas, reservas naturales, toma de agua potable, etc., buscando simultáneamente minimizar el correspondiente costo económico. Para ello, se ha desarrollado una herramienta computacional de diseño óptimo integrada con un procedimiento de simulación, basado en el método de los elementos finitos (MEF). En particular se consideran como indicadores ambientales, adecuados para este tipo de problema, el oxígeno disuelto (OD), la demanda bioquímica de oxígeno (DBO) y los Coliformes fecales (CF). El problema de optimización es resuelto a partir del método de “Recocido Simulado”. Asimismo, a los efectos de minimizar los tiempos de cálculo, las restricciones del problema se determinan mediante el uso de funciones de influencia obtenidas convenientemente a partir del problema adjunto del modelo de transporte.
