Although several disciplines have dealt with the study of poverty, they have not focused on the analysis of spatial distribution or its variations. This study has explored the phenomenon and its variations in the territory of the Argentinean Great North on the basis of a study of child mortality. This analysis acquired particular interest in the 1990s which saw profound transformations at the economic, political and social level.
