Abstract

The provinces of Norte Grande Argentino (NGA) reveal, for the year 2001, poverty rates highest in the country. One manifestation of such deprivation is evident from the characteristics of the health condition in children younger than one year. For this reason, it was intended in this paper to analyze the evolution of the comparatively infant mortality rate among the nine provinces that make up the NGA during the 1990s, attempts to approximate the changes and trends of the above problem. It is also intended to see to what extent it met the Millennium Development Goals raised to achieve by the year 2000. This analysis had a more accurate picture about the status of health-disease process in the provinces and departments of the NGA in a decade characterized by the "reform and structural adjustment."
