Abstract

Since 2000, there have been many advances in the identification and recovery of most of the significant buildings related with the traumatic pasts of Argentina -specially, those locations that had functioned Clandestine Detention centers (CCD, by its abbreviation in Spanish). It was the survivor’s testimonies what made the reconstruction of the sites possible. Although they have not functioned as CCD, there were also other recovered buildings related with the repression. In those places memorial sites and museums have been installed in order to recall what happened during the last military dictatorship (1976-1983). The present article analyses the particularities of these sites in Rosario city, where the dictatorial repression shows its special characteristics. The recoveries of the buildings feature a different logic in each particular case in relation with the traditions of the human rights organizations of the city and with municipal and provincial states. We will focus on the ex CCD Servicio de Informaciones de la Policía Provincial (Information service of the Provincial Police), recovered on 2002, and the ex Sede del Comando del II Cuerpo de Ejército (Home of the ex Command of the II Body of the Army), returned in 2010. Both became models of the recovery of this kind of sites and they became symbols of the memory policies that were established by the different governments during 2000.
