Las represas de usos múltiples

Abstract

Las represas hidroeléctricas surgen como una alternativa al uso de energía del petróleo para la obtención de energía eléctrica, ya que tienen una huella ecológica considerablemente inferior a la de los combustibles fósiles. Sin embargo, no siempre el resultado final cumple con esta premisa y muchas grandes represas no han satisfecho los objetivos para las que fueron construidas y/o han causado impactos ecológicos y sociales imprevistos El artículo discute las posibles consecuencias sociales y ambientales de las represas y sugiere estrategias para evitarlas.
