This paper, whose structure is according the guidelines in Social History, we reflect upon memory as part of the virtue of prudence and the development of the educational proposal by German theologian and philosopher Albert the Great (ca.1200-1280), in the historical context of 13th century. Memory, as emphasized in the 5th treatise De prudentia belonging to De bono, is expressed in the field of ethics, namely, in the filed of human behavior. Despite the rhetorical connotation of memory, as memorization technique (mnemotechnique) according to the teachings of Christianity, it is in the field of human behavior that relies the emphasis of the memory issue. For the prudent man, who acts according to reason, memory is essential to guide decision making in the present. Thus, it is possible to learn from past experience in order to act satisfactorily and prevent evil.
