El otro realismo

Abstract

Los episodios que se suceden en Ucrania han dado pie a titulares previsibles que mencionan un retorno de la Guerra Fría. En realidad no puede retornar lo que nunca se fue. Desde los años noventa, contrariando la interpretación convencional, venimos sosteniendo que la guerra fría no ha concluido, que el derrumbe del célebre muro y la posterior disolución de la Unión Soviética (URSS) solo cerró una etapa: la correspondiente a la confrontación entre dos superpotencias que se mostraban como adalides de dos modos de organización económica y social. El fin de esa etapa, sin embargo, no echó por tierra otros factores que se mantienen activos desde fines de la Segunda Guerra, en particular el "sistema de guerra" que rige gran parte de los comportamientos de Estados Unidos y que hoy -como ayer- se nutre de la presencia de enemigos, reales o imaginarios.
