La cuestión criminal: sensacionalismo y discurso mítico

Abstract

El presente artículo explora la reacción de gran intensidad afectiva que el crimen desencadena, partiendo de la premisa que esa afectividad no parece pura y simplemente repulsiva. Antes bien, se caracteriza por su ambivalencia. Afirmaremos que esto es así porque el acontecimiento criminal pone fuera de sí a los individuos habitualmente sujetos al ensamble societal y sus medidas. Este desequilibrio ocurre tanto en el plano afectivo como en el cognitivo, y en ciertas condiciones de comunicación puede conducirlos a estados de público o de multitud. Ello explica el exceso de la respuesta colectiva, tanto como la ambivalencia que comporta. Ello explica también que el mito sea la forma discursiva que habitualmente le corresponde −tales son al menos las tesis que hemos querido explorar aquí.
