Horticultura periurbana: estudios etnobotánicos en huertos familiares y comerciales de la Argentina

Abstract

La Etnobotánica es el estudio científico de las relaciones entre los seres humanos y su entorno vegetal (Albuquerque y Hurrell, 2010; Hurrell y Albuquerque, 2012). Uno de sus capítulos se refiere al conocimiento botánico local, es decir, el conjunto de saberes y creencias sobre las plantas en un contexto cultural dado, que se corporiza en acciones diversas, como estrategias de producción y de consumo, modos de empleo y manejo de los recursos vegetales. En este marco, las prácticas hortícolas constituyen un ejemplo de la corporización del conocimiento botánico local en acciones cotidianas. Asimismo, como se evidencia en el desarrollo histórico de la horticultura, las prácticas cambian con el tiempo, es decir, evolucionan; por tanto, la corporización del conocimiento botánico local tiene valor adaptativo.
