Las villas miseria (favelas) en el cine argentino: Un elefante oculto detrás de un vidrio

Abstract

La crisis de 2001 dotó de un nuevo tipo de visibilidad a las villas miserias de la ciudad de Buenos Aires: ya no solamente eran registradas por los medios masivos (que tendían a criminizarlas) o medidas por su crecimiento demográfico (que desde entonces no se detuvo) sino que se manifestaban en los pobres que recorrían la ciudad buscando cartones entre la basura. Esta situación le dio una dimensión inédita a un fenómeno que no era totalmente nuevo: la presencia de la villa (con los pobres como su sinécdoque) se sentía en la ciudad, en todas sus calles y en todos sus rincones.
