El desarrollo de captopril en 1975 fue uno de los primeros ejemplos de diseño racional de drogas. Su disponibilidad trajo aparejado un profundo impacto social constituyendo un efectivo tratamiento para la hipertensión. El destacado investigador argentino Miguel A. Ondetti, formado en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, junto a David W. Cushman, condujo el grupo de investigación que llevó a cabo esta tarea.
The development of captopril in 1975 was one of the first examples of rational drug design. Its availability induced a profound social impact constituting an effective treatment for hypertension. The distinguish Argentinean research Miguel A. Ondetti, educated at Universidad de Buenos Aires, together with David W. Cushman, led the research team that accomplished this work.
