Durante el último tercio del siglo XIX y las primeras décadas del siglo XX se crearon varios museos especialmente destinados al sistema educativo. Ese movimiento estuvo ligado a la expansión de la industria escolar y de los variados materiales inventados para “objetivar” las lecciones. En este trabajo se revisan algunas propuestas de colecciones escolares “argentinas” y la creación de museos escolares centrales. En particular, se examinan los materiales y las estrategias expositivas promovidos por el profesor Carlos M. Biedma, que sirvieron de base para la organización del Museo Escolar Sarmiento en 1910, dependiente del Consejo Nacional de Educación.

Several museums especially devoted to the educational system were created in the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century. That movement was bound to the expansion of school industry and the copious materials that had been invented for teaching with objects. In this paper we present some proposals of “Argentinean” school collections and the creation of central school museums. In particular, we examine the materials and the strategies of exhibition of the professor Carlos M. Biedma that served as base for the organization in 1910 of the School Museum Sarmiento, dependent of the National Council of Education.
