Análisis de patrones de uso del espacio prehispánico en el valle de Yocavil a partir de mapas temáticos

Abstract

Se presenta la metodología y los resultados de análisis del uso del espacio por parte de las sociedades prehispánicas del valle de Yocavil, en la provincia de Catamarca. La metodología incluyó la aplicación de teledetección para la elaboración de mapas temáticos referidos a las características ambientales y arqueológicas del área de estudio y la realización de prospecciones pedestres. Para la interpretación de los resultados se observó el patrón de emplazamiento de las áreas arqueológicas, tematizadas por tipo de evidencia y cronología tentativa. Se discute las funcionalidad potencial de cada una de los sectores para la producción agrícola y se concluye que los espacios seleccionados para la instalación humana prehispánica corresponden a terrazas pedemontanas y cerros bajos, a diferencia de lo que ocurre en la actualidad, donde la instalación humana se encuentra en el fondo de valle
