Abstract

Contemporary debates on cosmopolitics not only involve the human and the question about the common world that we can build, but also the question about other worlds, human or non-human. The urgency to open our view, in clear dispute with the uniqueness of the world imposed by Western, capitalist, colonial and patriarchal culture, towards a multiplicity of worlds, calls for an investigation into ontologies, epistemologies and ethico-politics. In this work we will analyze the pluriversal cosmopolitics of Marisol de la Cadena, in light of the notion of diffraction developed by Karen Barad and Donna Haraway. Both contrast diffraction, which produces differences, with reflection, and which allows the exploration of possible worlds. Our proposal, then, is to appropriate diffraction but understanding it as an ontology that allows us to account for relationalities and interdependencies for a pluriversal cosmopolitics.
