Abstract

“Arte-facto” es un término ideado por el geógrafo brasileño Rogério Haesbert para reconceptualizar a la región en tanto creación y construcción ya producida y hecha (fato en portugués), sin ignorar la historia acumulada de este doble proceso. Tras exponer la etimología de “arte” y “artefacto”, destacando los significados que remiten a un objeto manufacturado, algo hecho con arte, artificial, un mecanismo o dispositivo que se encuentra “entre lo concreto de un ‘hecho’ y la abstracción de un ‘artificio’”,6 el geógrafo explica que con ello busca romper la dicotomía entre realismo y constructivismo. Los conceptos que he reunido funcionan de la misma manera, porque son creaciones y objetos que tienen capacidad de agencia, son un punto de encuentro para el debate y la conversación, para la sociabilidad académica, así como dispositivos con efectos en lasprácticas cotidianas relacionadas con nuestra delimitación y análisis de los objetos de estudio: provocan, clasifican, desestabilizan, iluminan y orientan. Al igual que el guion colocado entre el arte y el hecho que une y separa, los conceptos median entre nuestras ideas y palabras y los fenómenos que estudiamos
