Plantas de Antofagasta de la Sierra: Catamarca

Abstract

Antofagasta de la Sierra es una de las regiones más áridas y agrestes de la República Argentina. A la aridez se le agregan temperaturas invernales extremas, cómodamente por debajo de cero grados, y radiación solar exuberante, también entre las más intensas del mundo. Sin embargo, las plantas se las ingenian para sobrevivir y progresar en la mayor parte de su extensión. Esta guía describe e ilustra 173 especies de plantas. Aunque no podemos decir que sea exhaustiva, se encuentran representadas todas las especies silvestres comunes y aquellas importantes desde un punto de vista del paisaje y la ecología. Esta guía surge luego de varios años de trabajos en la Puna por parte del equipo de investigación del IER e INBIOFIV (Universidad Nacional de Tucumán y CONICET), tomando como base la tesis de grado realizada por la primera autora. Confiamos en que resultará una herramienta liviana y útil para aquellos que quieran dar un primer paso en la identificación y el conocimiento de las plantas de la región.
