Abstract

This article analyzes different time modes and ways of seeing the past built at the Museo del Puerto and the Museo Taller Ferrowhite -both of them located in White, Bahía Blanca, province of Buenos Aires-. In particular, we ask about the continuities that exist between the gaze mode and memory mode that is built within each institutional space, in order to determine what forms of experience are institutionalized in their articulation. The particular way how these museums perform space and time modes are intentionally in tension with the constant modification and frenetic experience of the Port of Ingeniero White. The hypothesis of this work proposes that both museums of Ingeniero White develop an specific form of memory which is embodied in the gaze they have constructed in relation with the present, and thus, this quality allow to think memories practices in the museum as critical dimension in relation to its context.
