Trazar territorio, habitar territorio

Abstract

La historia económica y social de la Argentina se encuentra signada por el carácter dependiente de la matriz productiva durante su historia como país. Los procesos de genocidio y repoblamiento del territorio, la instalación de un modelo exportador, la industrialización urbana, la tecnificación del agro, la concentración de los servicios e infraestructuras, fueron configurando un mapa cada vez más urbanizado, hasta llegar a la actualidad en la que la Argentina es uno de los países más urbanizados del mundo y de la región latinoamericana. Dentro del mapa nacional de ciudades, encontramos diferencias entre aquellas que se encuentran más o menos conectadas con los flujos económicos globales. Particularmente las grandes metrópolis, y en especial Buenos Aires, contienen en su interior actores económicos de diversas escalas: desde la economía popular hasta grandes empresas multinacionales y conglomerados económicos concentrados. A nivel internacional, las empresas trasnacionales constituyen un eslabón de comunicación directo entre la escala local y la mundial, y su estudio aporta elementos clave para comprender las tendencias urbanas de un espacio geográfico determinado.
