La prosa melancólica de Fernando Vallejo

La prosa melancólica de Fernando Vallejo

Abstract

My aim, in this paper, is to analyze Fernando Vallejo´s narrative, with the desire to make inquiries in the relationship that the author-narrator-character has with death. The main hypothesis is that Fernando Vallejo´s prose is included in the melancholic cultural tradition (ambiguity, mixture, proliferation, digression), and that it would be interesting to articulate this decadent melancholy with the concept of romantic irony (ocultance, mixture, mystification, mixtification) to analyze the singular author´s image which is built in the context of contemporary Latin American literature, and more specifically, in the context of the autofiction genre.
