Relocalizar el conocimiento. ¿Qué es el conocimiento?

Abstract

Antaño el mundo de aquellos que se dedican al conocimiento parecía ser un mundo algo separado, aislado del mundo habitual, cotidiano, en una palabra, mundano. La imagen de los científicos en guardapolvos blancos rodeados de pipetas y tubos de vidrio, o bien encerrados en polvorientas bibliotecas en busca de viejas escrituras, parece haber quedado en el recuerdo. Hoy día la ciencia se promulga aplicada, se piensa para la sociedad –cualquier cosa que ella sea– y se mide por su utilidad. La ciencia ha de ser, entonces, aplicada, el conocimiento debe ser útil, los científicos han de acudir en solución de las demandas sociales. Entre sociedad civil y ciencia, el estado asume las demandas, planifica las respuestas y despliega las acciones. Tal el esquema que, al menos en teoría, vincula al estado, la ciencia y la sociedad. Ya asociado ya paralelo al estado, es con frecuencia el mercado la fuerza que vincula conocimiento y sociedad. La creación de conocimiento cobra sentido, así, en el circuito que, directa o indirectamente, lo lleva a reconfigurarse en política pública o mercancía. La infelicidad, la pobreza, la enfermedad, la violencia, no serían sino corrupciones de semejante virtuoso circuito. Denominamos disciplina y posdisciplina a las caracterizaciones de la ciencia respectivamente orientada a la verdad o al bien común, como fuera que aquella o este se definan, consideren o representen.
