Espacialidad y selectividad en Pausanias

Espacialidad y selectividad en Pausanias

Abstract

Pausanias has been increasingly studied in terms of the selectivity of cultural objects, memories and places he develops. The article tackles this problem through the spatiality of the text, considering it as key to comprehend its criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Practices, consecration of places and legitimacies related to local histories are recognized in the Periégesis’ second book. As a result, a series of ambiguities present in the text –related to the local and the Hellenic, oral and written traditions, experiences and memories- may be understood through the uses of space and its representation.
