La pantalla y el archivo: sobre los registros sonoros en el entorno virtual

Abstract

El artículo aborda diversos aspectos de los cambios que se generan en los registros y archivos sonoros al ingresar al entorno virtual, y las consecuencias que estos tienen para los usuarios. El recorrido se inicia con la descripción del contexto tecnológico de esos cambios, es decir, de los procedimientos vigentes de inscripción, almacenamiento y distribución del sonido; se detiene en la relación entre el track –como segmento discreto de inscripción sonora de relativa baja capacidad de desagregación, agregación y distribución– y el file –como unidad de almacenamiento de bytes de relativa alta capacidad de desagregación, agregación y distribución–; y finaliza con la consideración de la pantalla de los dispositivos como la superficie en la cual los registros y archivos se desagregan, agregan, expanden, diversifican y se ofrecen a los usuarios para que operen sobre ellos.
