Abstract

Los trastornos alimentarios (TA) y la obesidad constituyen actualmente dos importantes problemas de salud pública que ocasionan graves consecuencias físicas, psicológicas y sociales en quienes los padecen (Klump et al., 2009; Swanson et al., 2011). Los TA se definen como alteraciones graves de la conducta alimentaria, que se acompañan de una gran preocupación por el peso y la silueta, un gran temor a engordar y una significativa insatisfacción con la imagen corporal (Fairburn, Cooper, & Shafran, 2003). Entre estos, se encuentran la anorexia nerviosa (AN), la bulimia nerviosa (BN), el trastorno por atracón (TPA) y los síndromes subclínicos (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). La obesidad se define como una acumulación anormal o excesiva de grasa que puede ser perjudicial para la salud, producto de un desequilibrio entre la ingesta calórica y el gasto energético (Organización Mundial de la Salud [OMS], 2020). Se trata de una enfermedad compleja y multifactorial que resulta del interjuego de factores genéticos, comportamentales, ambientales y socioeconómicos (Hruby & Hu, 2015; Kyle, Dhurandhar, & Allison, 2016).
