Abstract

¿Cuándo y cómo comenzó a utilizarse en el Río de la Plata el sistema de clasificación diseñado por el naturalista sueco a mediados del siglo XVIII? A diferencia de lo ocurrido en otros territorios americanos de la corona española al filo del comienzo del proceso de emancipación, la recepción de Linneo entre nosotros se caracterizó por su carácter gradual, casi insensible. En este proceso cumplió un papel destacado el naturalista y patriota uruguayo Dámaso Larrañaga.
