¿Qué transformaciones urbanas se necesitan frente al cambio climático?

Abstract

El cambio climático y la crisis socioambiental representan una nueva realidad que plantea grandes desafíos para la humanidad. En este sentido, si bien los problemas relacionados con la cuestión ambiental son de larga data, cuando se iniciaron los estudios urbanos el problema ambiental no tenía las características que posee en la actualidad. Esto demanda repensar esta literatura desde nuevos enfoques más acordes con los desafíos actuales. En otras palabras, la búsqueda de la sostenibilidad de las aptitudes para la vida con las que cuenta el planeta debe ser la prioridad central, incluso si esto lleva a relegar a un segundo plano otras cuestiones. Sin embargo, hoy algunas corrientes teóricas se rehúsan a modificar sus postulados frente a las urgencias e imposiciones que el cambio climático provoca. En contraposición, otras miradas están poniendo en tela de juicio los imaginarios urbanos, concepciones sobre el progreso y la modernidad, de cara a la situación crítica del estado del ambiente que la humanidad ha provocado...
