Riqueza de especies de epífitas vasculares en las yungas de Argentina

Abstract

Las epífitas vasculares se encuentran entre las plantas menos estudiadas posiblemente por la dificultad de acceder al dosel donde habitan. Además, es muy escasa la información disponible sobre las epífitas en las Yungas, donde constituyen un componente importante tanto por su abundancia como por su diversidad. El objetivo de este trabajo fue relevar de forma preliminar la riqueza de epífitas de las yungas de Argentina. Para ello se consultaron 28 publicaciones específicas sobre las epífitas de esta región, y se realizaron relevamientos en 6.4 hectáreasde bosques en la Sierra de San Javier (Tucumán). Los ecosistemas considerados en este estudio incluyen bosques maduros, secundarios, disturbados, nativos e invadidos por exóticas, y los 3 pisos altitudinales boscosos de las Yungas. Se registraron 102 especies de epífitas, tanto verdaderas como ocasionales, considerando los relevamientos de campo y los listados florísticos de las publicaciones consultadas. De este total, 33 se encuentran presentes en la Sierra de San Javier. Estos resultados son preliminares y deben complementarse con registros de herbarios y otros relevamientos de campo. Particularmente, las epífitas del norte de las Yungas de Argentina y de los pisos de Selva Pedemontana y Bosque Montano están escasamente estudiadas.
