Argentina, entre la inseguridad alimentaria y la depredación territorial

Abstract

Durante los años noventa, el agro argentino se convirtió en uno de los más desregulados del mundo, digitado en buena medida por el mercado internacional. Una serie de transformaciones, productivas pero también socioambientales, dieron forma a “el campo” que hoy conocemos. Si bien en la actualidad han saltado todas las alarmas —sanitarias, ambientales y socioeconómicas—, esta matriz productiva es presentada como la única posible. En lugar de revisar la conexión estructural entre el corrimiento de la frontera agropecuaria, la extensión de los desmontes, el incremento de las sequías y los incendios forestales, se comercializan supuestas soluciones bajo la denominación de “sustentables”, que alimentan el mismo patrón de producción. Frente a este panorama, atravesado por concentración económica, incremento de la polarización social, conflicto sanitario y crisis socioambiental, nos preguntamos si reforzar esta matriz productiva puede ser una salida. ¿Es este el único campo que existe en nuestro país? A partir de una revisión del pasado y el presente del agronegocio, analizamos cómo esta construcción invisibiliza la existencia de otros campos que ponen en cuestión qué relaciones con la tierra son posibles y deseables.
