¿Qué edad tiene un quitón?: Los anillos de crecimiento de las placas de Chaetopleura isabellei (d’Orbigny, 1839)

Abstract

El uso de anillos de crecimiento está muy extendido en varios grupos de organismos (tales como bivalvos, gasterópodos o peces, entre otros) debido a que brindan mucha información acerca del ciclo de vida y el ambiente en el que se desarrollan tales organismos. Sin embargo,en el caso de los quitones (Mollusca: Polyplacophora), esta técnica no está muy difundida. El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar el crecimiento individual del quitón Chaetopleuraisabellei (d’Orbigny, 1841) en el intermareal del balneario Punta Verde, Río Negro, Argentina, a partir del estudio de los anillos de crecimiento de las placas.
